They sure are! Its a great guitar.

I'm not sure, but i think i may be right in saying that some of the very early Teles and Esquires were made of pine...

Well, if I were to get a Telecaster. It would be a Classic Vibe, for starters.

Buy used and you'll pick up something nice for that money. Check out Gumtree ,lots of Tele's come up there.                                    http://www.gumtree.com/

It is routed for a humbucker in the neck, but comes stock with a single coil fitted.

The CV tele is great value for money  :)

if you're willing to go used, used MIJ Tokai Breezysound. you have to be careful with fakes, ones of unknown provenance (y'know, "I have no idea what it is but I assume it's a Tokai because of no other proof than the fact I can get more money if I say it's a Tokai"), cheaper lower quality Korean ones being sold as MIJ, and low-end models being sold as high-end. But if you're willing to do some research (or else just join the tokai registry forum), then they're hard to beat for the money they can be picked up for on Ebay. Sometimes guitar shops even have decent deals on newer second-hand ones, though they tend to be terrible value for the early 80s ones.

When I tested some cheaper models the only one that I really got on with was the MIM 60's reissue.  That played nicely.

The Squier CV Tele is a great guitar and not just for the money.

Early Tele's and Esquires were made from pine. Not surprising from an amplifier company.

I have reason to believe the pickups in the CV are Tonerider Hot Classics. Same look, same wire colors, same constuction, same specs.

It has all the right features such as a gloss maple neck and fretboard, 9.5" radius, brass, three saddle bridge.

The only let down is the 3-way switch but that's easy and cheap to replace.

I've still got the stock switch in mine.  It does the job, but a nice CR one will go in mine when the stock one packs up....
