The REAL Lord of the Rings (opera content)

Well, this week I'm doing something I've wanted to do for a very long time:

See the entire Ring cycle by Richard Wagner, complete with all-star cast and Otto Schenk stage production.

Last night was Night 2 of the cycle, and my personal favourite, Die Walkure. Stage production, music, performance, all were first rate. It was a long one, however -- 6:30PM - Midnight! It really flew by, though, the performance was so thrilling.

Placido Domingo's still got it -- that man can belt it out to the back row! Rene Pape is a newcomer, and he, too has an amazing voice.

The show-stealer, however, was New York's own Adrianne Pieczonka as Sieglinde. She is the best soprano I've ever heard live. Definite goosebump territory!!

I was able to get a couple of pictures snapped inside the Met, which is really hard because no electronic devices are allowed to be on once you enter.

Wotan's kickass costume from a 1926 production. I thought it looked like something a Nazgul would wear PDT_008:

Me and my friend PJ showing our support for the real Lord of the Rings, Richard Wagner!!!!
