P-90 combination in question...
« on: April 29, 2009, 10:28:51 PM »
Hello again guys,

remember that old quest for Tele pickups? Screw that for now, I got a Tokai Les Paul Special in TV Yellow and I'm going to invest in some serious P-90s...

It is a solid axe, no question, but in a band situation...stock P-90s won't cut through. Plain and simple.

So which combo would you suggest?
I think that a P91 for the neck and a P92 for the bridge should do the trick. Such a combo could be too hot maybe, but as I'm also considering extended shielding I guess that the extra output and clarity of the said combo shouldn't be overly "blurred"...

To check out where my Les Paul will have to work ( 8)), follow this link...

Thanks for reading this far and feel free to share your thoughts on this!

I have a P90/P91 set in my hagstrom, and it's a really versatile combination. The neck is warm and mellow, and flicking to the bridge give instant crunch on my clean amp. Hunter has the 91/92 set and thinks it's a bit too hot, and he's a man that likes his crunchy tones.

Oh and I like your songs, very different and cool.

Jealous!
I'm no use to you on the P90 front, but enjoy the guitar!
