Tw@t

So, I had an idea about something that I had recorded a few weeks back, a nice little number showcasing my new BG Flat 50s, and was thinking about posting here.

So I loaded the file into Cakewalk and the sound was terrible!  Weak, unbalanced, scratchy, like the soundcard wasn't coping with it's settings.  So I reset everything to a "safe" environment, tried again and it was STILL trash.

Tried AISO For All instead of the native Tascam ones, and they were just as bad.  I'm using an old US122, which is cr@p, so I'm now thinking that maybe it's finally bitten the dust.

Reinstalled all of the native drivers, reset them all in Windows Device Manager, still cr@p.

Checked around the back of the US122 and realised that the headphone jack was half way out...

Completely lost the will to live.

And I work in IT.  I am a numpty.

Mark.

Rubbish.  Sounds like an A1 bit of debugging to me.  You have to start somewhere in the signal chain and fiddle from there.

Yeah, your only error was not starting with the simplest thing to fix. (I do that too, and I'm in IT)

What do you (or did you used to) say to users everytime, VERY first question?

Repeat after me:

"I'm sorry if this is a silly question sir/madam, but is the unit plugged in?"
