Almost NPD
« on: May 15, 2009, 09:20:13 PM »
Yes new pickup day here  just found out my Rebel Yells are in along with vitamin Q caps new CTS pots and they all get fitted to my tabacco burst Epiphone tomorrow.

So I now have a new slipstone nut, full fret dress and the above, may as well ask the question, have I missed anything that I should be doing?

Hehe I am practicing every night and although I am terrible I am enjoying it a lot. I do have a problem in that if I know something can be better it nags at me till I have made it better. Even down to when I built a garden swing I started thinking wonder if I could use better chains and fixings and lo I know have a garden swing which hangs from marine grade stainless steel  !!!

NB don't even mention my PC building days in the early 90s the PC was upgraded or changed every 2 weeks or so!

No, don't think you've forgotten anything... hang on! There's no mention of the guitar strap you've chosen - affects the tone far more than most people realise...

Kinda the same as Indy, just play it for a while... and have fun with it :D

Ack you mentioned straps luckily I did remember to have straplocks fitted at the same time! I have a Levi suede strap which I got when I bought the epi nice but it does tend to twist as I put it on.

Yup I am not intending to do anything more now just play it and enjoy. The new pickups sound amazing will take a little getting used to as they are far more sensitive to sliding on the bass strings than the epiphone pickups were so I am squealing a lot more as I try to move power chords. It now has great tone and a nice sustain. It may not be to everyones taste with the cartoon rayguns but I like it.

Got to thank all the folks for their great advice this really is a cool board.

You've forgotten some of the most important things: a few packs of your favorite guitar picks, and a cold beverage (kept well away from your equipment). And definitely start playing. Lots.
