He was thoroughly unlikeable but very watchable at the same time. The scene in S5 with him and Freamon in the bar was superbly done.

I don't watch any of these new shows but Ian, if you like The Wire have you seen Homicide: Life on the Street?  Also created by David Simon.  I think it's available on UK DVD, or you can probably download it somewhere dodgy if you're into that kind of thing!

I'll look it up Philly - won't be downloading it though!

They were OK, at the time! :P   But I don't watch much TV at all nowadays.

I don't have Sky, so I don't have access to a lot of these shows anyway.  But an awful lot of modern series seem to be based on the principle of "have one idea good enough for about six episodes, then if it's a hit just keep making it up as you go along, maintaining viewer interest by constantly hinting at some big future revelation which may never actually come".  :roll:

yeah, a lot of the time it's like that. gets annoying when you're trying to work out what's going on and the writers haven't even decided yet! I've given up trying to work anything out. Unfortunately I only seem to realise a show is stringing me along when i've already been suckered in... :(

I stopped watching Lost and Heroes for that very reason. Very, very nearly lost patience with the current season of 24 but only a double episode to go before it all ends! I have huffed so much about it over the last 6 or so episodes that I thought I was huffocating  :o

yeah, but i'm a bit pissed off with the direction the story's taken regarding tony.
