Low tempo brootalz composition fragment - RebelYells

Did all guitars in this track with the same Ueber patch in the Axe, recorded direct into Logic. Gotta love the Ueber!!!

Just a chain of parts at the moment, it doesn't have a "song structure" yet. Also just 2 guitars and Drums right now, no bass or other stuff yet, so it's maybe a bit rough.

Bless you Hunter.....this was EXACTLY what I'd been waiting to hear!!!  I was hoping to get an idea of how heavy the Rebel Yells could get.....mmmmmmmmmm, SPICEY! 

This clip may have just single handedly swayed my decision on which pickup to get!  That is an amazingly thick sound.....had to reread your description.  Would have sworn there was a bass in there at points.  DAMN!  Have to ask, is that RY in the McCarty still?

Lest I forget, heard some sweet ideas floating through that clip.......that heavy crashing towards the middle was just so hostile and aggressive!  NICE!!!  And that heavy chug on the end brought on the automatic headbanging reaction.  Just could help myself.....had to back away from the keyboard lest I damage it (or myself.....who am I kidding, no chance of that!)  Go with 'em Hunter, I wanna hear the final product!

Thanks you liked it. I've been searching for metal tones for a long time (being by heritage a more a blues/rock kinda guy), and I think I am starting to get some good results :O)

Re the Rebels, yes these are in the Rosewood McCarty. The Rebel is a rock pickup with a big bottom and a nice upper mids sizzle. They are picky regarding the guitar though. They didn't work for me in the Axis (basswood) or the Les Paul (lightweight Edwards Page), but in the PRS SE first and now the McCarty they are great.

What guitar are you thinking of putting them into?

Methinks you've found them.....that wasn't metal Hunter, that was METAL!!!!  The Rebel Yell was actually one of the suggestions Tim made for me.....I'm finishing a flamed maple super strat, maple bolt on neck with a rosewood fretboard, and a brass blocked licensed Floyd.  Wanted something on the hotter side in alnico 5, and Tim advised not going any hotter than the RY due the hard mids I'd end up with.  Your clip convinced me that they'd be hot enough for my needs......gonna be running it through an old 100 watt Laney Pro Tube Lead 2x12 with an AMT SS-20 pre-amp.  Say a prayer for my neighbors downstairs.....(rubbing hands together deviously)

My own experience with Rebel Yells in super strat (had them initially in my MM Axis) were not that great, I went back to stock with her.

If Tim recommended them though, I'm not gonna go against his rec. The Axis is Basswood, so that would make a difference to your supposedly alder body strat.

Just noticed another detail about your Rebel Yells......you mentioned switching from vintage wiring to modern.  It's not the standard 43 gauge winding?

Maple body? No, I have no experience with that kind of guitar. Sounds very bright to me.

Vintage vs. Modern wiring has nothing to do with the pickup, just the way it's connected.

Check this PDF, the old model pre 2007 is modern wiring, the new model is vintage wiring. I am now back on vintage.

My mistake.......I thought you were referring to the gauge of wire you had Tim wind the the pickup with, not how it's connected.   :oops:
