NAD MJW
« on: May 20, 2009, 10:40:47 PM »
Picked up my MJW Roadstar 36 on tuesday. I went for the 6V6 version and had it tweaked to be a little cleaner. It sounds great with plenty of body and chime. The clean sound is more Fendery but nothing like the fenders i've owned, with a strat and tubescreamer it's very SRV/Mayer, and with a tele its got twang that brings out some Brad Paisley type country licks. Not had a chance to try it out with humbuckers yet, friday for that!

A Celestion Hot100 was fitted. I did half a rehearsal with it then linked the amp to my 1x12 Matamp cab which has a Weber Ceramic Blue dog for the second half. This speaker seemed to tame the top end and add a little more midrange, so they've been swapped.

Pics... (hope they work, not done them before!)

I'm having a 2x10 cab made as well, with Weber Alnico's...

Conclusion.... love it!

Well i gigged it last night, and it did sound killer! It takes pedals very well, my Hot Cake has never sounded so good, but the BoR doesn't suit this amp. The Fulltone Fat Boost works great, and i was thinking of selling that. Got a more Rocking gig at the weekend so the Les Paul and N4 will be going through it... wish i could fast forward to Saturday!

The price was totally fine when i ordered it... but after using it for a rehearsal, a full day of school guitar teaching then a gig i can honestly say i would've paid more for it.  It's that good.
