C-pig tweaking

So, I have this lovely new C-pig installed in my Jackson dominion and it's very nice. However, it doesn't exhibit any of the typical characteristics of a ceramic based pup. That is, it sounds very good, but there seems to be a muffled quality to it. Less definition and clarity than I'd have thought (and have heard in others' clips). Any suggestions on height, allen screw adjustments, etc?

try raising the pup in very small increments... @ 1/16 of a turn.

If it's muffled, there could be something wrong with your pots. What values are they? As for height, I always start by raising my pickup until it touches the high-e when I press down on the 22nd fret, then I back it down slowly from there. If some of your strings don't have the presence you need, then I'd suggest moving on to adjusting the individual bolts until you're satisfied. Try playing chords as well as individual strings to make sure that you're getting the sound that you like. First and foremost however, would be pickup height. I find that BKs respond to being at the right height better than any other pickup I've tried.

The guy who made the diagram is a Gretsch player but not related to the famous guy with the same last name.

I was really thinking Gretsch because their pickups have less scope for overall height adjustment, so tweaking the polepieces becomes more useful (and maybe crucial?).

Yes, pickups on Gretsches are non-height adjustable unless you put some foam or spacers under them. They're also very sensitive to pole piece/screw adjustments. A bit fidley and time consuming but it does allow you to EQ the guitar to your taste.
