All Things Fuzzy

I know very little about Fuzz pedals, but I think I'd like to learn more.

I've always thought of them as being fairly fizzy, unsubstantial distortion pedals, but I think I'm changing my mind...

I had a go with Elliots at the London jam, which I think was a self build.  What else do we use?

The circuits look dead simple for a self build, and there are some great sites out there for info...

The BYOC fuzz is a good pedal (we have it). We also have the zvex fuzz factory and little big muff.

All different styles really, the BYOC and Fuzz factory are the most similar because they are germanium fuzz pedals.

The little bif muff and BYOC are pretty easy to use, the fazz factory has 5 controls and massive variety, but like all things with many options it takes a while to dial in settings you like.

Some fuzz pedals are fizzy and nasty. Sometimes it's intentional sometimes not. It really depends on the manufacturer. I own several different fuzz pedals, and have played many more.

Example: The Analog Man Peppermint fuzz is very buzzy, in that late '60s Jimmy Page sorta way. The Hartman Tommy Bolin fuzz is very smooth and organic sounding.

There is a fuzz for whatever you consider to be toneful. However, you really have to try out as many as you can. What's good to one person may not fit the requirements of someone else.
