How did that happen?
« on: May 24, 2009, 05:32:22 PM »
Was casually browsing eBay, and before you know it I've bought an ADA MP-1 preamp to go in my rack.  ;)  :D

Anyone know of any decent midi controllable amp switching units?  ;)

Hey Jon / Feline!!!

This questions for you dude!

Muttley, I'd pm Jon on this if I were you. He owns about 10 of the damn things....

Good job, they're great units :)

It depends really what amp you've got- if you only need to change channel and reverb, then the behringer fcb1010 can do all that, there are other units that can do it, but you'll still have to buy a midi floorboard too!

I think I need to clarify my current setuo, and how I'd like to fit this in.  :)

Current rig:

Korg DTR-2000 tuner
Marshall JMP-1 preamp
TC Electronics G-Major FX
BBE 362 Sonic Maximiser
Marshall 9100 stereo power amp

That lot goes into a Marshall 4x12 loaded with Celestion Vintage 30s which is stereo split.

I control this lot from a Rocktron MIDI Mate board, and have a couple of pedals (ISP Decimator and Morley Bad Horsie 2 Wah).

What I would like to do is be able to switch between the JMP-1 and MP-1 on the fly via MIDI so I can get the best of both worlds as it were.  :)

Oh, and the moon on a stick would be nice too, ta.  ;)

I have one of these (bought much cheaper though)

Check ebay and one shows up from time to time.

They are really easy to use.

You could use a Lehle D.Loop to do that switching- i used to do the same thing with two MP1s (one modded for clean sounds, another stock for dirty). They're great units (all the Lehle stuff is!), and i've used mine every day for the last few years, and it still shows no signs of going wrong :)

Sorry, I should have read that post, the Nobels wouldn't do that.

Thanks for that.  I'm now wondering whether to go for that solution or maybe wait a few months and go for a more flexible rack-based Voodoo Labs GCX Audio Switcher or RJM Effect Gizmo.  :)

There are many alternatives for this.

For all things switching, looping and remoting, go to: http://www.loopersparadise.de/

The site is in English and German, so don't worry.
