Swap suggestions please
« on: May 28, 2009, 01:38:15 AM »
Along with many others on these forums I have searched to find my match of pickups for my guitar with little solid solutions.  Its very cool everyone is extremely helpful and knowledgable about their setup but I have to say there really is alot to factor into deciding and I cant seem to pinpoint a selection.

Anyways Heres my specs:

Jackson kv2 - maple neck thru with alder wings and ebony fret
needs extreme death metal capability.  the clean doesnt need to be great just ok.
Will probably be getting a standard Krank half stack in the future.

Throughout my searches on the forum I found most people matching my specs suggested the C-pig most, the nailbomb matched with other BKP's as a close second to the MM setup.  My first impression was the C-pig at the bridge and a MM at the neck?? Would this even be balanced?

And as a side question, whats with the different options on ordering the pickups?  Mostly I dont understand the conductor and leg options and how they affect the instrument and sound.

Thanks to any who can offer any advice at all.

c-pig + mm neck would be a brutal setup and im pretty sure they balance, (im sure ive seen it on here before) only thing is it depends what u class as ok cleans.... most say the mm's cleans are the worst but im not sure just how bad the neck is.... an alternative would be coldsweat neck?

u probably want short leg lengths (nearly all guitars do) and braided 2 conductor wire ?
they dont affect the sound the wires are for different wiring options and the leg length is to fit into the guitar (how deep) .....

im sure someone else can help more.....

Painkillers + Alder are supposed to be awesome together.

I personally have a ceramic Warpig and a Miracle Man, bridge and neck respectively.

the KV2 being already a bright guitar, and considering the fact you seem to want some serious push to make the HPs of your amp move quite a bit, I'd say :

combo 1 : C-Pig (bridge) / PK (Neck) the only ceramic available in the neck position, said here to give excellent results

combo 2 : MM set.

This is just a feeling, nothing reliable, wait more acknowledged users of these pickups to come for an advanced comparison between them !
