Kerry King joins BLS

ok, not really (or more specifically, not yet).  in the link above KK is interviewed and says he'd be interested in doing something with Zakk Wylde if Slayer call it a day.

that partnership could lead to some badass stuff coming out, though I'd prefer to hear someone else singing than Zakk.

Unless Zakk decides to do something else in the vein of Pride and Glory I'm not much interested.

Slayer do need to call it a day, though.

agreed - that's his best stuff by a mile.

Slayer do need to call it a day, though.

I didn't think much of Christ Illusion, though the song 'Cult' was good.  Their new song is decent too.

I'd imagine they'll tour this new album due out in the summer, then call it a day - the interviews point to that.  from what I can gather, Araya won't be touring Slayer for much longer though King seems happy to keep it going till someone else calls time.

There's always a couple decent tunes, but overall they've been mediocre for years. More bands should take a leaf out of Bolt Throwers book and simply not release anything unless they geniunely feel it's better than the last one.

I'm bored of Slayer live too, but that's maybe down to overtouring, it's just that I've seen them like, 20 times!

Not sure about... Since the TBH cd or BBBB dvd, most things Zakk did wasn't very cool and I'm not really found with Kerry King, like some Slayer songs but not much of his solos, etc...

Hope it gets fine...

Call it a day means finish it, right?

+1

What an album that is!

I don't think Zakk and Kerry would complement each other very well, unless Kerry has some tricks up his sleeve he doesn't use with Slayer.

I've only seen Slayer live 4 times and I'm bored of them live already, seems to be exactly the same each time

I can't think of any bands that reinvent themselves on each tour - Slayer do what they do and do it well (though maybe not quite as ferriciously as 10/15 years ago)

Not a fan of Slayer at all, and I don't even like Black Labels heavier stuff...so I can't see this being for me

I just wanted to post to say that Zakk's best stuff is easily his solo album "The Book Of Shadows".
Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty > Cold Sweat + Mississippi Queen + Riff Raff

CL Aurora Super Strat > Calibrated Holy Divers with coil tap.

The Blessed Hellride has to be my favourite BLS album, I only own Reign In Blood and God Hates Us All by Slayer, and I actually prefer god hates us all, some of the solos are actually more than white noise!

those two are Slayer's best albums imo, I'd probably go with God Hates Us All too.

I liked P&G alot, but struggled to like Zakk's BLS stuff.

BLS albums can be a bit iffy at times, though usually there's at least 1 or 2 great tracks.  Just needs a bit more quality control to get rid of the filler.  However, Hangover Music, Vol. VI is brilliant the whole way through.  Much closer to Book of Shadows in feel than the normal BLS stuff.

I think I never understood the musical meaning / feeling of slayer's solos (both JH and KK) and even if I prefered Zakk Wylde when he was with Ozzy, as it has been stated before :

I don't think Zakk and Kerry would complement each other very well, unless Kerry has some tricks up his sleeve he doesn't use with Slayer.

I can only begin to imagine how stock-metal same-old-chug-riff this is going to sound.

The lead guitar should be an interesting mix though. Kings 'different-scale-every-half-bar-and-I-have-a-wammy-and-by-god-I'll-use-it' plus wyldes 'that-jimmy-page-stuff-was-good-but-what-if-it-was-FASTER' are about as far apart in the land of metal lead as you can get.
