experiences of relocating
« on: June 08, 2009, 03:29:47 AM »
hey guys, every now and then I think about relocating because I think economically it's in my best interests as where I live doesn't have much going for it

so I was wondering if you could share your experiences of such matters, what happens to your social circles, finding new social groups, employment and etc

cheers!

I did it a long while back. It was only 60 miles from "home" though so I am not entirely sure if it counts. I had a job to go to but that was in another town 20 odd miles away( the reason was that the town I moved to was a lot cheaper to buy a house in than where I went to work). Luckily I had a couple of work colleagues who lived in the same town(hence the choice) and it was through them that I gradually built up contacts.I joined a band and that also made me a few friends and it just went on from there.I belong here now-I have dozens of great friends and it keeps me busy seeing them-tis good.

I moved in to a village where we (wifey and I) didn't know anyone.  All we had to do was start to drink up the local and we  now have LOADS of mates in the village..... in fact we can't get rid of them half of the time.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.
