I want to make a Head Cabinet
« on: June 13, 2009, 12:10:49 AM »
So I've decided I'm going to keep my Carlsbro 60TC because it works so damned well with pedals, at least the pedals I have anyway. Sounds ace cranked, too.

But it's DAMN ugly, I'm not even going to show pictures...

Anyway, I want to make a nice new head cab for it, I was thinking about getting someone else to make it but when I think about it it's just some wood wrapped in some tolex... nothing too complex, it's not like making a speaker cab.

So, are there any tutorials/guides? or any advice from anyone?

Any idea where to buy materials?

This idea just popped in my head and I'm a little too tired to go searching, I'll go looking tomorrow but any help would be brilliant.

You'll probably find it more cost effective to go to Ceriatone amps and get one off the shelf, to be honest...

They use gab kits (http://www.gabkits.com/) and they themselves won't ship outside the US, pansies.

Just get Martin at MJW to build you one...

Yeah, I'm thinking I might have to go down that route... none of these kit-based heads would work.

Though really... how hard must it be?!

It's not hard to do I guess, but you need the right gear to do a Pro job.

If you want to make a head cabinet, you should do a plan first on its design. This could help you on lessening your mistakes and be more accurate in cutting. Yeah, sometimes we should not rely on carpenters to do our wood work because it is fun to experiment.

Whooo man, that is ugly (just done an image search).

Looks like the front panel unscrews, could you recover the main case and make a new front panel?
Advice worth what you just paid for it.
