hi guys, i just can't beliebe how expensive strings are these days. I mean i used to get D'ADDARIO EXL110 10set for around 30GBP from local shop but since they've shut down, i couldn't source 'em at that price range anymore. Where do you get your strings from?

i have a massive bunch of newtone strings now.

They take a while too come from newtone because they are made to order, worth the wait but i got impatient and got some standard newtone sets from strings direct while i was waiting.

so i guess thats another +1 for strings direct

Me too. In fact he does a 3 for 2 deal on Roto reds which I think is pretty reasonable.

plectrum price is annoying too!

GONE are the days when a good pick was a few pence! now its a problem finding a shop that will lend you one you steal when you try a guitar out

£3.05 for a set of Rotosound, compared to £3.95 at strings direct

Yeah, Rizla papers are outrageously priced these days as well....

I've been using www.soundunlimited.co.uk, I just checked, they're prices have shot up too :(

Nearly 33% in less than 12 months!!!  :o

A set of ten EXL115 sets will still be a few quid cheaper than stringsdirect, though. The D'addario 10 set pack (which stringsdirect don't seem to do?) is £42.00 at the moment, and it fits through a letter box :D (so no post office redelivery @rsery!). A similar deal at stringsdirect is £44.90 for ten, and I'm guessing they'll be individual sets?

I'm also well taken by the soundunlimited service - their local post office messed up on one of my early orders, and we had to pay an excess £2 postage at our end. I dropped soundunlimited an email just to let them know they might have a problem. They refunded my card within minutes, no question asked or any evidence required, and offered me a free set of strings for my trouble... :D  I'm hooked, I buy all my strings from them, electric, accoustic, reso, bass... really fast turn round.

EDIT: Just had a look at hotroxuk - they're a few quid cheaper again... (they can't spell "gauge" though! :D)
