Matamp AB15, now with added pictures
« on: June 24, 2009, 10:00:50 AM »
Hi all.

My name is Nils and I am a hobby repairman/ampbuilder/guitarist living in Sweden. I am also a newbie to this site and I know that itīs not customary to ask/need things rightaway, so I would like to apologise for this.

About four years ago I bought a set of ten amps, like ready to build-kits, from a guy in England through ebay. Apparently he sold them off to get some sort of payment for outstanding work. Ever since then I have been searching the internet, off and on, for some information about this amp. I have found that this little buggerīs been badged both as a Hiwatt AB15 and Matamp AB15 but according to Hiwatt the AB stands for "AudioBros". It consists of 2 ECC83īs, 4 EL84īs and a solid state rectifier. Controlīs are gain, bass, mid, treble and master.

There were to be one complete amp, in the lot that I bought. I have traced it and drawn a schematic it but would like to get it confirmed. Is there anyone that have a schematic or can give me some cap, and resistor values?

Any help would be appreciated, cheers Nils

^ +1, but also email Matamp - they're a good bunch down there.

can you post some pictures of the amp too? - I seem to remember a batch of amps that Matamp made from surplus parts maybe 5-8 years ago that used 4x EL84 and 2xECC83.  is the PT mounted on standoffs?

Thanks, I have just registered and posted on the Matamp forum. I will post some pictures tomorrow evening, if anyone can instruct me. And yes, both the OPT and PT are mounted on standoffs. Cheers Nils
