Transformers-Suckage in disguise!!!!
« on: June 26, 2009, 04:20:29 AM »
Well just got back from that new robot movie,

And wow was that waste of my evening, its amazing how movie trailers can blow your mind with awesomeness and then leave you thinking wtf happened after watching the actual film.

MINOR SPOILERS BELOW:

The first hour is much ado of nothing, a wee bit of action, and alot of awkward sexual innuendo.  Call me a priss, but when even the dogs are $%&#ing there's just something wrong about all of it being in TRANSFORMERS.  I ended up sitting next to a little kid and she seemed pretty uncomfortable with what was happening onscreen, the director should have been more considerate of the expected audience (aka families and a helluva lot of kids).

The second hour sort of picks up the pace with a real bad attempt of mystery and questing, the search for the "kings dagger under the light of 3 suns" feels like it was ripped out of a bargain-bin dungeons and dragons adventure, I'm sure the average 2nd grader could've came up with a better plot, in fact, give me $100,000,000 budget and I coudl've come up with a better plot.

Finally the last half hour, pretty much non-stop robot explosions and action, it was great.  So great in fact, one wonders why there was the 2 hours of garbage that proceeded it.  It did nothing more than prove that a great budget and great graphics don't make for a great movie, it felt like watching "The Phantom Menace," all over again, if you catch my drift.

Phantom Menace isn't that bad...

Yeah it is!

With those reflexes you must be a jedi young anakin... but i digress

Saw TF2 last night too, i can only echo the comments above, if you want to visit every film cliche in the book, put up with the michael bay style of directing- i.e. lets blow stuff up, show everything from blurry crazy angles and do loads of shots in slow motion with poignant reflective music in the background - then knock yourself out.

But it was pants and the storyline made no sense, however i dont want to "spoil" it for anyone else by elaborating further :)

Yer both on crack.

It was awesome.

The forest fight was one of the best action sequences of all fricken time.

My only complaint was (minor spoilers at the bottom of this post, scroll fast if you dont want to know)

Excessive involvement of the army at the end. All the autobots but prime and bumblebee may have well not bothered to be there. And devastator didnt do enough.

Well that's put paid to any possibility of me going to see this.

I HATED the first one but Michael Bay does give good trailer and I found myself thinking "maybe it's better" even though I knew it wouldn't be.

I will rent it on DVD eventually, just to confirm - or confound - my suspicions.

i don't know if i'll go to see it, the only good thing in the first one was megan fox... the first, comedy oriented part wasn't too bad. for a teenage comedy. actually i was more disappointed by the second half that was theoretically supposed to be a spectacular apology of mindless destruction with giant robots... action was too weak and confused. and the robots were among the less charismatic characters i've ever seen on screen...

I can't stand his action sequences, I don't know why he just can't show the action.  He uses these dizzy and blurry camera angles so nothing is clear as your watching, which is lame, I thought he would've learned his lesson after the first one but apparently not.

Here's a quote from a review of the first film:

"Imagine you took apart a whole bunch of cars, mixed the parts up and welded them all together into a giant ball maybe 15 or 20 feet in diameter, then rolled it down a hill.  Shoot that in closeup and you got every fight scene in this movie."
