Anyone tried this yet?

Looks pretty good to me, I'm all in favour of breaking out of my obscene Google rut...

Mark.

I'd completely denounced this from the start but I just tried it out by searching for Bear Knuckle Pickups.

Okay, the layout is pretty much the same as google but... I really LIKE this things image viewer!

Also, check out the Video side of it, you just have to hover over a video for it to play...

(Playing one of Denim and Leathers QuickRod demos right now!)

I'm impressed...

... by microsoft...

I'm going to go have a lie down.

Exactly!  Sure, it's Microsoft, but then how do you feel about ANY entity being in charge of what you find online, be it MS, Google, the BBC or the British Government...

I like the features, it has some neat code in it.

Has a very slick UI, Google has been riding for far too long on its (still the best) ranking system. Given on what google has done with Maps, you'd think they might apply a bit of Web 2.0 (sorry to any IT professionals out there) magic to their search results front-end. Nothing really new, but good to see one of the big players trying to mix up the search space a bit, Google is becoming part of the Internet infrastructure, which is never good from a monopolies POV.

Shame about the name ... Bing! ... still, what do I know about marketting :p

Apple recently coughed up over 1 billion US for a new data centre, expect something from them soon too ...

I completely disagree! The old-skool Google format is great. It's quick loading, fool-proof, and it does the job beautifully!
If you feel you require more from your Google search, there's iGoogle which is FANTASTIC, and incredibly underrated I think.

+1

though i've never really used igoogle much, I don't really 'get' a lot of the google products and i always found them hard to find but... i remember i started using google beacuse it simply wasn't clogged up like lycos and yahoo and all the others were back in the days of 28.8/56k

And i still love that simplicity today, for most things

I might start using bing for video, but it requires me to break the habbit of using google which is going to be VERY hard. It's automatic for me.

I'd be very very very angry if they were, but i don't think they are. I feel sorry for China, they're heavily restricted.

Easy enough to get around anything if you know the dark alleys of the internet well enough, though... ;)

Google gave us the uncluttered UI, and for that I am forever grateful ... I have never really liked their image search results layout though. Just a personal preference. Bing is a fancier dress on the same chassis as Google, good luck to them but its not the next big thing ... still waiting for that, and hopefully I'll have the idea before anyone else ;-)
