Glastonbury 'highlights'
« on: June 26, 2009, 11:36:03 PM »
[rant]After the high of the Matt Schofield gig I have just been bought crashing down to earth with a resounding thud by the BBC highlights of 'Glasto'.

The Ting Tings (f@cking awfully bad), Paulo Nutini (terrible acoustic song, even worse voice and someone needs to smack him in the mouth) and Lady GaGa (t@ts trying to escape from her top and apparently she named herself after a Queen song).

I feel really, really old saying this but they should all f@ck off until they have developed their 'talent' and actually have decent songs to sing.[/rant]
I think I hate being indecisive.

I hate Glasto, it's pure over hyped shite, I don't think I'll ever go.

and way too corporate and clean looking. I'm sure parts of it are nice but the minute the corporate world gets its teeth stuck in you know it will be awful within a few years. Not sure if the cr@pness of the festival nowadays is anything to do with the slowly increasing influence of Emily Eavis.

i quite enjoyed N.E.R.D, nice (koa?? - interesteing grain on the body below the sunburst) strat sounding very summery in the first few tracks.

i also enjoyed the specials

gaga is a laugh at best - the keytar made me cringe

only problem is BBC's coverage - we will see the same 3 bands repeated constantly for the whole weekend... probably bloc party for most of it!

so many bands, 3 channels covering it - they should never have to repeat anything!

no knocking keytars!!!!

playing normal keyboards you get shoved to the side of the stage and have no stage presence what so ever, unless it's an organ and you stick knives in it

keytar = instant stage presence even if it is uber cheesey

Yep it was pretty bad.  I used to go in the 90's and early 00's when you could jump over the fence :D

Oh and Lilly Allen should be put down, I can't stand her.

Lady Gaga should give up and do porn, she's nearly there anyway.  That way we might want to actually watch her!

a bunch of terrible bands,
it will be all over the interactive BBC red button stuff on sky and you'll probably get a lot more bands on there.
obviously whats shown on the main channels is going to be dictated by trend, and while everyone here seems to have some musical sense, a lot of people dont.

the only music show on TV i enjoy is Jools Holland, and even thats gone a bit down hill. although i did sneak in when metallica where on it and watching them from the side of the bass rig

why just not bring  a piano then? Gives you instant and massive stage presence!

i dont know, it seems the red button channels on freeview just seem to show the same stuff thats already been on the main channel loads of times

Was talkin about Glastonbury today with a few friends and family. After going on a tirade (again) about it my Sister said "you're such a music snob Ian". I must say that I felt incredibly proud to be called that.

Just watching the Springsteen performance. Not bad but for some reason the producers decided to show quite a lot of his lesser known songs - maybe The Boss didn't play a greatest hits set.

The other annoying thing, for a pedant such as me, is that when the opening bars of Thunder Road were played a screen graphic flashed up saying it was Tenth Avenue Freeze Out.  :x
