Have any of you guys tried splitting the coils of a Mule or Black Dog?

As per my previous post, I am going to be installing a Black Dog in the Bridge and Mule in the Neck position of my Les Paul. Since I chose both pick ups with 4 conductors, I was also thinking about installing a coil splitter wired to the tone controls, in order to add to the tonal versatility of the guitar.

Have any of you guys done this and if so, what kind of sound do you get? Is it worth doing this?

For the cost of a push/pull pot, do it and find out. Don't forget to update us on the results.

I have a coil splitable Black Dog in the bridge of my Gordon Smith Graduate 60 (Les Paul Clone).

As you can imagine due to it being a relatively low output pup to split (I think mines high 8K or so) the split sound is alot quieter than the full on mode, but it does sound good and is useful for approximating a bridge single coil if you need to in a push :)

Mule neck split is really nice.... Quite warm with a bit of spank, definitely worth investing in a push/pull pot for!

Had a Mule set in an Epi LP, with a push pull on each tone pot for splitting. Gave a really nice sound, especially the neck - sounded a bit like a Tele (as the previous poster said, plenty of spank), but still discernably not a Tele. I'd recommend it - really adds an interesting element to a Les Paul.
