Hey guys.
I’m probably getting a gibson V pretty soon and have decided to use BKPs in it (if I get it!). I’ve never liked those gibson pickups that much. Too wooly.
I play metal and need plenty of gain, so my choices are pretty much:
Warpig, which I already have in another guitar, and while I love it, I’d rather not duplicate tones between my guitars. I will use them if I cant decide on anything else though.
Nailbomb, Miracle Man.
I’d like a heavy sound, and I’m a clarity freak. I’d like something a little open sounding and organic but capable of serious aggression.
I spoke to Steve earlier (helpful chap, thanks again Steve!) and he recommended the Nailbomb. Currently this is my feeling as well, it sounds pretty close to what I want. My only concern with it is that it may not deliver a sharp cutting high end if needed (which I sometimes do). For this sound it would be the miracle man. But my concern with that is that itll sound too tight and punchy, which is a great sound, but I have that in abundance in other guitars: I don’t want it to sound too similar to my EMG81’d mahogany dean or my swinsehead Xbuckered epiphone (god knows what its made from….what they had lying round on the floor, probably).
Does anyone have any experience of either the miracle man or nailbomb in ideally a gibson V? (any all-mahogony guitar would be helpful, really!).
And failing that, how much does the warpig bring out the character of a guitars wood? I currently have one in a maple necked basswood bodied jackson. I know putting it in an all mahogany guitars going to change it a fair bit, but how much?
Any help is very much appreciated!
Cheers
Mark
