Painkilla to Coldsweat?
« on: July 04, 2009, 03:17:42 PM »
Hi Gentleman,
I'm using BKP for quite a while now, mostly C-Pigs in the bridge position.  I've got a nailbomb on the neck of my Jackson DK2 and it's brilliant (for a POS guitar that is)   However on my custom Randy Rhoads, I'm not quite sure about the painkiller on neck... I lowered the height but it's still too agressive.  Don't get me wrong I love its bite when I need it,   but I was thinking about getting a Coldsweat perhaps??    Will it match the C-Pig also?  I could get another bridge since I have TONS of bass already.

I loved that pickups, but on a UV777 and used the tone pot alot.   My RR has a THICK maple neck thru body, mahagony wings and rosewood board and no pot.  It is a seven stringer also.  I am playing thru a Diezel Herbert and Vader cabinet, if the information can help any of you guys.

Kind Regards.

Well, the CS neck, despite its specs, pairs very well with the C-pig, and it is most certainly less aggressive than the PK neck, but what sort of sounds are you after? - what you've said so far the CS would be better, but maybe not the best

I should be more specific.   As far as rythm goes, I love Iced Earth tone (something wicked) and the first Demon and Wizards album...  VERY huge sounding and heavy as hell.   I am satisfied in that area with my C-pig.

As far as lead goes... I prefer the bridge pickup, to get the 80's vibe.   However, i'd love to get somewhat close to the tone Andy Woods gets www.myspace.com/downfromup  on the solo of the first song, Victim.  He uses the same amp (Diezel Herbert)  but plays suhr and anderson guitars...  AFAK my chops are nowhere as close, but it's a lead tone I love.   Otherwise Chris Broderick live tone was impressive, hence the Cold Sweat.  I think you can get the Blood in the water live DVD on youtube (it's not out yet)  and listen to tornado of souls.  Brilliant tone.

Kind regards

How about this heat, huh? I was glad when it started raining again. Proper weather, that you can escape by going inside.

bloody emo chorus again

Ah here we go

Thats a bridge pickup. I think. 99% sure.

That said theres a slightly glassy chimey brightness to it, but smooth and fluid, that if you wanted something of similar character to in the neck, I'd go for the CS.

Yeah, CS: from what you've said so far I'm sure you'll like it and I havent heard a better one for you.

Yeah I should've warmed you,  it's cheezy, but the SOLO OWNS.   Or maybe I am not a neck guy at all.   I used to be pretty big on children of bodom and alexi played everything on the  bridge.

come on, the cover is not too bad... but they should wear some kind of mask to hide their ugly faces and some sort of ancient roman clothes to match the artwork... :)
Mule, MQ, Stockholm, CS, RY, MM, PK, ANB, CNB, AWP, CWP, PiG90...

too many? ;)
