irish tour (long post)
« on: April 04, 2005, 03:09:42 AM »
Hi! I am so glad tim created this forum!!! Bare knuckle rules!! Tim, thank you for your patience, and for making my tone so nice, i am Santiago from Argentina.
Well, i am gonna try to direct this post to people in the search for new pickups. Letīs face it, tone quest can be tough and expensive. Weīre everytime trying to improve our tone. Pedals, amps, axes, pickups etc.
When i first bought my start i loved it. Felt great, looked great and had all the character i like in them. Itīs an american reissue. Still. there was something in the tone i was missing. I felt the pickups where a bit thin and with very little power. i went through seymour duncan, dimarzio etc. Every pickup had all their pros and cons but anyway, i was never satisfied.
Then i came across Robert Keeley and his wonderful tone machines (bought lot of his toys!), and find bareknuckle pickups as  his recommendation for pickups.  I emailed Tim and after my tone description he recommended me the irish tours.
Let me tell you one thing, I WILL NEVER TRY ANYTHING ELSE!
This pickups are everything a strat pickup should be. Powerful, punchy, but VERY clear and defined. The neck pickup is fat, still with lots of presence and very articulate. Plenty of definition. Middle pickups is unbelievable! you never thought you could use it alone and you certainly can now. Positions 2 and 4 have all the quack you ever wanted without the drop in output, so hollow but so clear! Finally, bridge is very cutting and biting, and never harsh as every other strat bridge pup. And also, you wouldnīt believe it, but the harmonic content in every chord is to die for. You here so many harmonics and even when you play clean! i thought it was my class a amp but hell no!!! i plugged into a peavey classic 50 and harmonics jumped there too!!!!! a little less noticeable but definately there! Man, thereīs no hype here. Go to harmony central, look for every review on any pickup. There isnīt a single 9!!!!!  all 10s!!
Tim is the man! heīs always wanting to get the most out of your tone, will answer any question and make you the best reccomendations.
I had just bought a tele with texas specials. Before receiving it, and even trying it in the store, i ordered a boss set. Thatīs the way i feel with bare knuckle pickups!
All you people out there, do yourself a favor, GO BUY THEM!!! donīt look at the price. If i had done this in the first place i would have saved a couple hundred bucks. This is the real deal. Good tone is priceless. To me, Timīs pėckups are cheap!!!!
PERFECT TONE!!!
