Got 5K$ ?
« on: July 14, 2009, 05:41:14 PM »

... they could be invested worse than into this 6 channel monster which is a result of over 5 years of work of one of the best amp builders around:

http://www.fortinamps.com/Meathead.aspx

It looks really like a joke, but having heard many amazing clips of the Fortin Bones, I have no doubt that all 6 channels are awesomeness!

"The audio path is switched via 42 relays with no solid state inline for a true 100% all tube analogue signal path"

42 relay contacts between you and the speaker - hardly a pure signal path.

Still the proof is in the pudding - if it sounds good, then it is good.

I don't think the 42 will be ever in one signal path, will probably depend on which channel and configuration you use.

Midi switchable options, if the sound quality stays true, is a pretty cool thing though.

Tumeni knobs ... maybe. It really depends if all 6 channels really give distinctive tones. If they are just slight flavours of the same characteristic, then indeed pointless. Would have to try it to judge ...

I was thinking the same thing!

I like a playground-amplifier as much as the next frothing-at-the-mouth guitar geek, but that looks too much like a $%&#ing mixing desk.

Which I also like

But not as an amp!

Well, with 7 channels, assuming as many switches are needed for one channel as another, I guess 7 must be in use at once.

But I may be making a horrible mistake, since I just divided 42 by 6 and have no idea how amps are wired!
