The Secret Policemans Ball

Piggy Pox has got me trawling the web again.

I remember this first time around - some lovely playing:

... and I think that this is one of my favourite all time clips:

Edit - actually I think that this is my favourite clip:

Is that Tony Franklin from Blue Murder?

To be fair, Gilmour was pretty well mulleted-up too.  And so was I, in those days.

I wish I was.

Another good Gilmour performance, a classic obviously.

Some great comedy moments in SPB too - I've tried to find a clip of Chris Langham on "How to speak Japanese" but failed - if you ever find it - a classic!!

I wasn't there, but I was certainly around

It was a strange time, I don't think any period in recent history looks more dated than the mid-'80s.  At one point it seemed like all the old-school rock stars grew mullets, wore peculiar jewellery and dressed in big baggy suits like Duran Duran and the cast of Miami Vice.

I think any era where people are dressed 'in fashion' looks dated  :)
Some guy in jeans 'n' t-shirt in the 1950 looks pretty much like some guy in jeans 'n' t-shirt now.
A generous heart, kind speech and a life of service & compassion are the things which renew humanity

The 1980s were definitely an odd time.

I remember looking at picture of guys from the 1970s and thinking that they looked really bad.  Me in my burgundy stay-pressed trousers, burgundy cardigan and moon boots.

And Harrington jacket...

Yikes!

that vid with Gilmour is proof that nobody escaped the 80s - that dreadful cricket-bat guitar and dodgy chorus, urgh!!!  Where is a vomit emoticon when you need one.

Always liked that song, despite the hideously twee keyboard sound on that performance!  He always seemed like he secretly a bit of a guitar hero disguised as a pop star.

Since I'm making fashion-related comments on this thread... imaginative use of mohawk to hide hair loss!  :P

I hope he realises the beard and glasses make him look like a Gary Glitter action figure....
