Pickups for a Basswood 7 String?

Right now I am GASing for one of those new Ibanez Rg 1527 Prestiges with a maple fretboard, maple neck and basswood body...

As always with Ibanez, the stock pickups are worse than having NO pickups I am loocking for a swap. I have never had a guitar with a maple fretboard so I don't know how they affect the guitars sound. I was thinking of the good old Nailbomb/Cold Sweat combo for this guitar.

How is the Nailbomb bridge in basswood guitars, or is it something to avoid? I've got it in a mahagony guitar and I just love the sound of it! Is there a recomendation for this wood construction?
I want this guitar for some Nevermore and Death Metal stuff but at the same time I love the lead tones I get from alnico pickups...

Oh and there is no bridge spacing and leg length on the 7string bkps! Are all 7string pickups built the same way and will fit in any 7string guitar?

I don't know how the nailbomb would work in basswood, but I have heard that the warpig (alnico, of course) sits well in it.

I have a miracle man set in a les paul and I really like the chunky lows but I hate the sharp trebliness of the MM and I think it will get worse in a basswood guitar...
I also have a pair of alnico warpigs and they are just not my cup of tea, they are great at what they are meant for (doom, stoner, etc) but they aren't really what I want soundwise

The Nailbomb surely is enough for Nevermore tones as Chris Broderick used them in his Ibanez guitars (in his mahagony custom RG but I am not sure what he uses in HIS Rg 1527)

I have a holydiver. It does have that thick sound with great mids, but I haven't found it suitable for serious metal riffing. I mean, I've found it usable for times when I drop my low-e an octave, but my MQ handled that too. Sounds like Nailbomb time. I hear it's a bit less thick, but sweeter and suitable for metal stuff.

I'd only consider a MM for anything if it were overwound to darken things up, or if my guitar were extremely dark.

Those clips are pretty good, but I like everything thick and my highs... not so high. I also like to bang out some cleans every now and then, just so I can make sure my playing hasn't turned to shitee...

Coldsweat? it could definately do nevermore and though its not the most brutal pickup in the range, thats one of the best things about it. It could get very dirty, it remains tight, but its always crystal clear as hell, even in low tunings. With a high gain amp, it could do death metal for sure I think, but its not very sizzly. As for the woods? It works fine in my guitar which is alder with a maple top and maple neck and pau ferro board, so i think it would do alright in basswood. Just my 2 cents. But if you like even more power, I'd say miracle man for sure.

the CS is brighter and thinner than the MM
maybe a heavily overwound version of it to fatten it up and tame the high end
around 18k (25% overwound), maybe

It would be a little on the bright side and an overwound version is diffrent from what Tim wanted this pickup to sound like; I will get myself a cold sweat set as soon as i get my hands on another Les Paul!

So I am pretty much between the MM and a Nailbomb right now, gotta ask the man himself!

If you like alnico sounds, then nailbomb. But don't ignore rule no. 1: Get what Tim says.

Sounds interesting. Would they be wound a bit hotter to compensate for the lack of ceramic magnet?
