SIT Strings (impressed!)
« on: July 27, 2009, 04:46:52 PM »
A while ago, I ordered about £40 of strings from Thomann- same gauges, but different brands, and different price brackets. One of the more pricey packs, were a set of SIT Power Wound 9-46s. Having snapped a string on my Charvel, I decided to put these SIT strings on to see what they were like. Within a few minutes of stringing up, the strings stopped stretching, and even with trem usage, they held tuning very well. After playing for about 20mins, i left the guitar alone, and this morning it's still in perfect tuning. This is the least hassle i've ever had with strings and a trem, and i'll certainly be ordering more- I don't change strings that often, so I can't really offer a tonal comparison, but they don't sound bad at all- harmonics jump off, and are wonderfully clear.

If you have a trem on your guitar, i'd really recommend using these strings, they save such a headache :) No wonder they're called Stay In Tune strings, they actually work!

They are good strings. They come factory stock on Edwards - that's how I learned about them and when I bought my first sets. Unspectacular but a nice feel and balanced tone.

oh, they come factory stock on edwards, do they? I've tried them, then. I thought they were alright, but i'd probably go with something else for tonal reasons.

How much were they? To save me going all the way to Thomann and hunting them down.

Never tried SIT strings, but then again I don't have any tuning problems.

I tend to use Pyramid 11-gauge strings at the minute as I get a good deal on them from Thomann (and they sound good too).

I was impressed with the Pyramid strings that I got from there (i think 9s and 10s)... Vintage and Rare have started selling them, and pushing them as a 'boutique' brand... and at about £6 a pack too!

I've tried S.I.T a few times. They're pretty cool but wear really fast iirc.
