Belgian Grand Prix
« on: August 06, 2009, 04:51:42 PM »
in a last minute(ish) move, i will now be attending this year's Belgian Grand Prix! :)  woohoo!

me and my sister were always fans of mr Schumacher, but never had the opportunity to attend a race.  now that he's making a comeback we decided, last chance, and Spa's our favourite track, off we go!

what i almost expect to happen now is that he'll race at Valencia, then not be fit for Spa a week later and we'll be treated to Luca Badoer in Massa's Ferrari.  still, can't wait to finally experience the howl of an F1 engine in person! :)

Spa is the greatest track on the calendar, the only one I'd pay to attend.

You're gonna have a very special weekend as long as Schumi's neck holds up!

I'm very jealous.

Spa is indeed a highlight. I am hoping that Schuey is racing his heart out on the day- just for you.

thanks mr beatle, very nice of you :)

Philly, yes indeed, he's still Ferrari's test driver.  an odd job in these days of testing bans :)  apparently him an Schuey spent yesterday racing karts.  it's a hard old life...

oh, for this favour Michael's doing for the old team he is reportedly receiving €1000 000.00 per race.  not bad for a sub!

I think that's stretching the word 'favour' quite a lot.

Enjoy the race though!

Got to say that Mrs TM isn't too happy about the return of shitepacker.  She's really not a fan (former Montoya fan, so there's an obvious clash).

I'd love to go to Spa, my folks were going to walk there on one of their trips and camp at the track but it was an extra 80km walk and they just couldn't be arsed (they had just walked from the Hook of Holland, so can't blame them).

I love the sound of the F1 engines.  A pair of ear plugs are a good idea as the sound tends to go in one ear, rattle around your head and then go out the other ear.  You can get away with not using them for a while, but towards the end of the day I was getting a bit of headache.

Have fun, I'm very jelous.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

Not much of a surprise IMO.
I think I hate being indecisive.

yep, it's pretty disappointing.  he did say "yet" though!  who knows, he might make it to Spa! :)

probably not though.

ah well, i've wanted to see a Grand Prix for the last 13 years, and his potential comeback did finally make me get up off my arse and book one, so i'm still looking forward to it.  i did predict earlier in this thread that we'd end up seeing Luca Badoer.  anyone want their fortune told? ;)

Well regardless of whether he is there racing or not, Spa has to be one of the last great circuits that Bernie has yet to ditch ( can we get rid of Bernie and have the old circuits back please) so I think you will have a great time.

Yeah, try to enjoy Spa..

Because before long all the F1 circuits will be characterless sanitised corporate entertainment complexes located in emerging markets happy to give Bernie a MASSIVE kickback.  :(

i'll be heading off at 4 o'clock tomorrow morning!  :)

still not entirely sure how we'll be getting from the airport to the hotel, or from the hotel to the race, which is perhaps a little (!) foolish.  but hey, life's an adventure!  :)

watch out for me on the tv up at eau rouge, i'll be the one that's me!

not as many knocks in that first corner as I thought, safety car still came out though, at least that's why I think it came out, not paying attention to TV
