Miracle Man/Trilogy vs Custom/Hotrails
« on: November 02, 2005, 12:41:36 AM »
Hey everyone
Right now in my Charvel model 4 I have a FullShred. I love it but it could do with a little more output. I hear the Miracle Man will give me this tight sound right out of the box, so I'm fairly interested. Unfortunately, I also need a bridge Single Coil size humbucker/very high output Single coil with just about the same specs (tight bass, overal tight sound and NO MIDSCOOP!). It'd be to play metal, with a lot of gain (to let you know, I usually use the Soldano SLO model on the POD, with the gain all the way up, with the guitar's 6db midboost all the way up AND the SD1 as a boost   ). So a true Single Coil would get VERY noisy. I'm thinking something around 16 to 17K (talking about Seymour Duncan output measurements here since I have no experience with other brands).
Now in an ideal world, I'd get the Miracle Man and a Hotrails or Trilogy. However my budget is of 150 euros. A Miracle Man would set me down 90 pounds, and that's 130 euros already.
What do I do? Go for the Seymour Duncans and save up more, or get another pickup for the middle of neck position of either guitars, or get the Miracle Man? Would it be much better than the Custom for what I need? What other alternatives can you guys think of?
I'd be glad to get any help. Thanks guys!

Pierre, you KNOW what I'm going to recommend!

Get the MM, you will not regret it. When you have the money, add the Trilogy.

I've done the Duncan thing. You've done the Duncan thing.
Do yourself a favour and step up into a realm you've only imagined!!

You sound like a Walt Disney marketing rep now
Fine then... If Mr Bareknucke takes paypal, I'll jump to it. It's my only way to pay :( Thanks!

Not sure if Tim is doing Paypal just yet, but you can get the Paypal debit card, and it works just like any other debit card. Just give them the card # and it works just like your debit card, but takes the money from the Paypal.

Perfect for purchases you don't want your wife to know about! ;)

I went to the website to try that but it seems to not be an option for me. I don't have any money on my paypal. And my parents can't send me the cash... I have no idea how I can pay for it :(
Though I listened to some soundclips and I KNOW it's what I need...
Question: how similar would a MM be to a Duncan Custom? Due to payment methods I may be stuck with that only...

There are none, and I can't use cash anyway. I think I'll have to go with the Customs. If I don't like it I could always sell it with the FullShred and be able to afford the MM.

It seems a false economy doing it that way,why not be patient and save up for some BK's rather than getting some naff old S.Duncan's that you will change anyway.Bk's will blow the SD's out of the water!!

I have way more than needed. I could go over 150 euros if needed easily. But I can ONLY use paypal (Parents have the cash and credit card. I have neither). That's the only constraint. I know I'll be satisfied with it, but I see no way to pay for it for now :( Getting a second hand SD off someone with paypal is easier in a way. Money really is not the problem.

And you just made me want it even more

Pierre, you can always paypal me the money, and I can use my Paypal card to pay for the pickups.

Just depends on your comfort level.

Maybe you can find a dealer that accepts paypal or maybe there's a Miracle Man on e-bay.

Or.....do you have the number of your parents credit card? Including the verification code on the back? (I'm assuming you have permission)

I PMed you Twilight! Thanks a bunch :)
I don't have their credit card details, I just used it through paypal. I don't need one that often. Mostly for guitar tools I have to buy on the net, or things that are way cheaper online. But I think we have a way now :D Thanks for all the nice words everyone.
