New here and need some advice
« on: November 02, 2005, 01:57:53 AM »
I have heard some good things on these pickups.  I play metal and was wondering what pick-up is best for gain, articulation, mid range punch and so forth without getting muddy or simply sounding loud and fat...?  I play Prs, Gibson LP Customs and Explorers most of the time and run a stereo config of a Bogner Uberschall and an Ecstacy theough 2 vintage 30 cabs and 2 Uber cabs and a T.C. Electronics g-force.

Any advice would be sincerely appreciated...thanks. :D

:D Hi dude & welcome to the forum

What kind of metal do you play & what type of sound  are you after ?

for the record non of the P/U`s these guys make sounds muddy, what P/U`s in the "Players" section did you listen to & what one did you like ?

all of these questions will help to narrow down the selection to help you get to where you want to get to !!   :D

God I could do with a Gin & Tonic !

Hi there,

a couple of forum members have got good tone from Bogners driven with Miracle Man pickups - including  Mark Briody of Jagpanzer.....They are a very ariculate pickup with lots of very tight and powerful bass, in a mahogany guitar th low mid really comes out too.

The Nailbombs have more of an aggressive mid range, the bas isn't quites as tight being alnico, and eh treble is sweeter.

The Warpigs are great for modern saturated metal, and chug better than any.

There's also the Holy Divers, and a couple of new pickups in the pipeline, one for Steve Stevens and the Painkiller, but I think they're still in testing.

Some of the lower gain pickups are also an option if you like to attack your guitars! The VH2, the Mule and Abraxas spring to mind.

The clips give you a basic idea, the clips from BKP are at the top and they're recorded with a real amp!

Hell and thanks...I liked the Miracle Man, Warpig, Nailbomb, and the Holy diver.  I do some fast chug type stuff along with some articulate picking stuff.  I also like to hear each string in chords.  I guess a fair description of my playing style would be Lamb of God with some Nevermore.....A little Testament and some cleaner picking stuff with chords like Alter Bridge.  I have plenty of low end and have had issues with pick-ups just being loud and muddy.  In all sincerity, I am confident a few options could work well for me.  I guess I could just get a few different ones and try them out....????  I also love very thick and heavy gain.  I appreciate yoru help thus far and more if you have it....thanks my friend. :)

I think Warpigs would be a good choise for your styles. However, if it's more midrange you want, you might want to wait for the new Painkiller.

I was thinking of trying out the warpig and also the miracle man and seeing how they work and then go from there.  I do like midrange punch and am curious on the painkiller.....All the clips sound good and I am sure pretty much any choice will be better than a stock gibson or PRS pickup....
