Sadly many more of the electric pioneers & legends are gonna pass soon.

At least he went out on his shield - still gigging every week.

That saddens me very much, i always wanted to go see him play at the club in NY, was actually planning to do it before the end of the year. His contributions to modern music, the way its played, recorded, will not be soon forgotten.

R.I.P.

The world of modern music has lost a grand master and innovator.

We all owe him big time.

Thanks, Les, for everything you've done!

R.I.P Les Paul :(

I was fortunate enough to see him perform at a club in NY while I was there last year. He was a great guitarist and a very nice guy too! Going to play my Les Paul for a bit this evening in his honour!

Such a shame, also an inspiration that you / we can do what we love doing right up until the end, however far away that may be.
Quite a few people of that generation will have had to give up the piano due to arthritis, how did he keep at it?

U2 guitarist The Edge, Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, Guns N' Roses star Slash and The Who's Pete Townshend are among those closely associated with the Les Paul sound.

I thought he was a player of everything, or is it just name dropping?

You could say exactly the same of Townshend, to be fair.

But I believe Mr Edge has very often been seen with a white LP Custom in recent years?

Forgot about that one, I just didn't remember him with a LP at all, more the '76 explorer.

he changes guitars like 10 times a set.....I don't really think the Edge can be casted into the fender or gibson camp, he simply plays what he wants, and to be fair i think i've seen him play a black strat more than a white gibson
