RIP Les, the world of guitar would be a very different place without you.

A great shame. He was such a good player in his younger days. He could play faster than most modern shredders in the 40s

A sad loss, but he had a long and fulfilled life and was enjoying music right up till the end.

RIP Lester...... and thankyou for all you did for us all.

I generally find public grief for deceased celebrities rather distasteful, but this is one of the few (in fact, ONLY that I can think of) where my life would geniunely have been different were it not for them.

I find myself quite sad tonight.

Very true. I don't mind a passing "R.I.P" for a celebrity we admire or whatever, but Les was a real class act. Anyone who plays music can mourn his passing.

Les Paul's impact on music is incalculable, and as guitar players we in particular owe him a huge debt.

Thank you Les for all your passion and hard work. RIP.

I've shed tears in the past for musicians that I admired who left us too soon.  But my god......Les gave virtually every musician alive today priceless gifts that none of us can every thank him enough for.   All of his ideas, inventions, technological developments, and to say nothing of his musical brilliance and heart......it's staggering how much every one of us (musicians and music fans) owes that gentleman.  I never had the privilege of seeing him perform live.  I wish I had.  I wish I could have shaken his hand and thanked him for all that he has given every one of us.  All I can do now is say "Thank you for EVERYTHING Les......every one of us will miss you."   :(

RIP. But what an amazing  life! We take the electric guitar for granted nowadays so thanks to Les for his ideas and getting them working.

a death that shold be noted much more than the likes of Jade Goody or even Michael Jackson, but that will get a brief mention at the bottom of page 12 of the papers.

but a life that should be celebrated and remembered.  i picked up my Les Paul when i heard last night and played some music, surely the best way to remember him.

Thanks for everything Les, let's hope you're not the last of your kind
