Question About Push/Pull Pots
« on: April 26, 2005, 03:31:05 PM »
so i've finally decided (i think!) on what pickups i am going to get; it looks like a calibrated set of VHII's with coil splitting push/pull pots. I just called my guitar tech to find out how much it would cost to get these fitted. He mentioned that getting push/pulls pots for Les Paul's (i.e. my guitar) are tricky, because sometimes they don't go all the way through the top or something?
so my question is, are the push/pull pots BKP sell suitable for use in a Les Paul? and if so, which specific pots are they on the order form?
same thing with kill switches too, does anyone know of anywhere i can get a switch suitable for a Les Paul?

thanks for listening, willo

EDIT: ignore this, i've found out what i need-its the long shaft, 3/4" push/pull pots.
The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away...

Where'd you get them?  I've seen some places advising that their standard push-pull 500K-ohm pots are likely to not fit Les Pauls, but without offering anything that would fit.  That said, I suppose if I get the whole install and modification done by a reputable guitar workshop, they'll know about what to do as long as I throw the appropriate money at them.  (I'm increasingly inclined to go for coil-tapping/splitting with new BKPs for my LP, simply because I don't anticipate being able to spring for another guitar anytime soon -- it's the poor man's option :).)

This place has push pull pots for Les Pauls but it's US based
http://www.guitarelectronics.com/

I've got stuff from them before and talked to them via e-mail and had no problems.
