My original metal-instrumental with Painkiller 7's...
« on: August 30, 2009, 05:32:57 PM »
An original composition of mine about an alien invasion.

Alien Invasion From Chi Sagittarii:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=713239

Hi-gain rhythm tones are the bridge model Painkiller.
Lead tones are the neck Painkiller.
Clean tones are both neck and bridge Painkillers together.

The story/timeline is outlined below in case anybody is interested...

------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE BACKGROUND:

1977
The Big Ear radio telescope at Ohio State University receives a 72 second radio signal of unknown origin.
Location determined to be near star group Chi Sagittarii.

1999
A violent outburst at star group Chi Sagittarii is detected, revealing the location of a nearby black hole just outside the Milky Way.
"Radio telescopes give us a quick glimpse of something moving at a fantastically high velocity" - Astronomer Robert Hjellming

2009
Earth is invaded by an alien species from outer space.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

SONG TIMELINE:

00:00 - 00:17
An alien fleet appears from a black hole near Chi Sagittarii, just outside the Milky Way.

00:17 - 01:25
The alien fleet travels at incredible speed and makes an attack formation just outside earth's atmosphere.
The alien attack is swift and deadly.
All of earth's defences are eliminated within a day, leaving humankind at the mercy of the aliens.

01:25 - 02:42
The aliens systematically hunt down and capture earth's survivors.
They are incredibly efficient, but they fail to capture one man who has an uncanny ability to "play dead" by lowering his bio-rhythms to almost non-existent levels for long periods.
The alien vessels fly over his location completely unaware of his existence.

02:42 - 04:41
The survivor eludes capture, but can only watch helplessly as the aliens go about collecting human specimens and carrying out brutal experiments.
Most humans are kept in containment while a minority are released after having their minds erased clean by the aliens.

04:41 - 05:31
An alien stumbles across the survivor's location but is completely unaware of his presence.
The survivor seizes the opportunity and launches a vicious attack on the unsuspecting alien, tearing it to pieces.

05:31 - 06:39
The aliens attempt to locate and capture the survivor but he narrowly escapes and goes into hiding underground.
The aliens realize that they cannot find what they cannot see, so they begin their return journey with their human cargo.
As the survivor watches them leave, he realizes that it wasn't an invasion at all.
It was a harvest.
A harvest that has been going on for many centuries.
And now, all across the world, humankind has been reduced to a state of adult infancy.
And the survivor is left to helplessly ponder his knowledge.

Really like the composition, and oddly, also the tone.

I don't understand the principle of the story + song thing, but its not too bad. Makes instrumental music more interesting.

Do you write the music first, or the story?

Heya thanks mate.  :D

When you say oddly you liked the tone, what exactly did you mean?
Have you tried the Painkillers in the past and not liked them, or do you mean that this type of tone isn't usually your thing?

With this song, I came up with the opening riff first.
Then the idea for some kind of outer space story came next.
The rest of the song and the full story followed on from there.

Cheers mate.  8)
