Which BKP for a custom made guitar
« on: August 31, 2009, 12:13:02 PM »
Greetings guys,

I am quite new to the forum, but not that new to the BKP family and i'd like to ask you about your opinions on which pickups to go for in my new custom made guitar.

The guitar will be a PRS custom 24 body shape, 7 string with fixed bridge, body - mahogany, top birdseye poplar, neck maple/wenge/padouk, ebony fretboard. I am looking for a punchy saturated tone, but clear enough to let the wood come out -for the bridge (somehow 'Bulb-ish' I'd say)
As for the neck pickup, i am looking for a nice sounding, rather round, singing, searing and organic pickup for leads -  compared to those of Petrucci which remains undistorted on cleans when switched to the clean channel of the amp.

Thanks for any opinions (and sorry for my english if anything sounds awkward :) )

VHII is an awesome neck pickup. It's somehow soft and mellow but still articulate and open-sounding. At least really natural on my ESP Horizon's neck position. I'm more of an "vintage tone" guy and I have 3 Gibson Les Pauls equipped with BKP Stormy Mondays and The Mules. If you think yourself of an "vintage tone guy" give a try to AlNiCo IV equipped pickups. Those really blow your mind (and head) off :)
Crazy for BKP... almost 30 pickups and still ordering more :)
