Help Squire Classic Vibe Tele GAS

Should I buy one?

How would I spot a lemon, indeed are there Squire CV lemons?

Please help me.. I'm going nuts with Tele GAS since the BKP meet in London.

Pros

  • Adored by even experienced Tele owners
  • No immediate need to replace any hardware
  • 9.5 radius
  • Routed for a neck humbucker under the guard
  • Brass bridge

Cons
  • Only available in White
  • I already have alot of guitars and not alot of money

I may just be obsessed and in a Tele GAS frenzy but they sound like such a good purchase.

One thing to watch is the neck profile - it's quite shallow.  But as you like Ibanez and BC Rich superstrats you'll be fine.

They can be a bit heavy, so try before you buy if that bothers you.  I'd buy one sight unseen though, no problem.  The quality is very very good.

I do like quite a shallow neck so that goes into the plus side as well.  :? It gets harder to say no.

Real men probably do play Telecasters but real men don't listen to their wallet more than their heads.

It's all great and dandy you like Telecasters and would generally love one but I think the lack of money should be put into greater consideration than just a 'point'.

Unless you sell a guitar for one, then ignore all the above, lol..

The CV Tele has build a reputation for being very consistent. There's a chance a bad one's out there but I've not heard a report to that extent. If you like the thin neck, there's no better Tele in the price range.

Ahh Sweet Memories.... I had to cradle Badgermarks instrument in my arms as it usually swings too low between his legs. :lol:

Now that aint true, it swung around YOUR legs not mine shortarse. I say go try some out, they are spot on teles that shouldn't need upgrading, the pickups and hardware are spot on already.

Reply:  You don't have a Tele yet. Every guitarist should own one IMO and it's cheap.

If you like the neck profile (I didn't, that's all that stopped me) then I think it's the best value tele-type-thing going at the moment.

On the white finish, I'm sure I saw a thread on the tdpri forum a while back where someone had removed the finish and then oiled it - looked absolutely KILLER. Apparently they got the finish off really easily with a heat gun, with only minor blemishes caused by initial over-enthusiastic use of the gun.

But (bear in mind I didn't witnes your drooling/etc in person), I would also say that "alot of guitars and not alot of money" possibly requires a bit of consideration....

... NAH... buy one!! :lol:

As Andy said, if the finish is poly, you can use a heat gun to remove the finish... But (as he said again) beware to not stop in the same point or it will burn the wood :D
