For a LP Custom (mahogany body/maple neck/ebony fretboard):

The CS has a bit more bass compared to the Rebel Yell, especially the bridge version. The Rebel Yell is brighter with that sweet Alnico V tone.

I tend to agree. When I go back and forth between the two guitars they sound so different.  The RY seems more magical and live, rehearsals, and on record  it has cut through the mix like Anna Nicole Smith at a biker bar. I'll play the CS tomorrow at rehearsal.

LP Custom R68 with the CS has a maple cap*, mahogany, ebony board

LP Standard with RY  has the same woods as above except for aa rosewood board

LP Custom '79 has stock pups maple cap and neck, mahogany body and ebony board
(my other LP I have not mentioned)

Note: the LP Custom 57 RI does not have a maple top

On a side note, how does the RY neck sound? I did'nt get a calibrated set (wished I had) for my 2006 LPC. Im still running a 490T in the neck currently.

I agree.

The Rebel Yell neck is sweet and thick. A 'big' neck tone.
