C#Minor Rock/Metal track ~ As we forget - Miracle Man
« on: November 04, 2005, 05:34:18 PM »
Hi there i havent posted in a long time i still have my awesum maverick x1 with bareknuckle miracle man pups thanks tim once again for awesum tone and playability! I have been working my friggin ass off to improve my guitaring not just solos but rythmic playing. This track i recorded today in my mentors studio (thanks paul) learnt this backing track recorded it then layed a solo in C# Minor pentatonic. I know it aint steve vai yet lol but im gettin there. Now i cant remeber what the amp was but it was a god damn good valve amp and melts my heart lol cos it rocks. The track is sorta hard rock and metal i used alot of my influences in this and im am proud seen as i only played for 2 years and only practise for 3 hrs a day solid.

Enjoy

Sounds good if a little muffled. How did you get good that fast? I am interested in your practise schedule thing, as I'm stuck in the pentatonic phase, I need a good teacher!

Hails doods. Thnx for the kind words yeah um basically shredding and soloing doesnt come easy. All i ever wanted was to become a great guitarist and basically a metaller. About a year ago i was absolutely useless at guitar i could play basic stuff but my aspirations was to become a shredder. This what ive done aint no where near technical to what i can acheive in mebe 5 yrs. I only practise for a mere few hrs a day do shredding warm ups, scales, practise riffs and make my own riffs. A tip to learning to solo is do it yourself i learnt to shred myself i started to on day sit down and i fort im gonna experiement with the fret board i found out i could do more than really i should of. Its natural cos my teacher sed i can pick things up very quick musical instruments are natural to me i played sax for 8 years and was very gud after 3 yrs. So guitar isnt much different to me except theres alot of new rudements i had to learn like scales. Pentatonic scaling is the place to start learning to solo, basically my teacher taught me tricks on guitar to mix with the scale so when u shred a pentatonic i used other techniques in order to make that solo. Another tip is get backing tracks and learn them like i do and record them! then keep reapeating it play it back loads get into the moood have a feel for the song and make a wacky solo for it. Its bollocks u dont need to play for years and years im in a metal band i started in it when i knew nothing about guitar i learnt alot this way. Just have heart and a will to push yourself and u dont need to be like john petruci and practise allll day and knaker urself. The pentatonic is easy tho also learn oxydiolian i may have spelt this wrong chaps lol but this mixed with pentatonic can give sum cool results. Also use alot of pull off and hammer ons and legatto. I tend to legatto alot in the intro and begining it snds cool. But you all can do solos as well as make cool riffs u just need the imagination and heart to do it not practise till you die and find you cant play jack shite. And dont need to read alot of homework cos its within you a teacher can only guide u, the work is upto you.

Is that Mixolydian by any chance? I really want to get out of the pentatonics, but I find theory too confusing. I've asked loads of times, and keep forgetting. Are the Mode "shapes" moveable like pentatonics? I just find it really easy to learn the shapes, rather than which notes are in the scales..

im luckly enough to have a really great young aspiring metal guitar teacher. Who also is a great mate of mine well we have become good freinds that is. he turned my sloppy bad points of my guitaring and helped me mould it with practise into something that more pleasing and presentable.

All the scales and modes can be found here. Yes you can just move the scale shapes to get different keys.
