Hard sided gig bags - company name?
« on: September 07, 2009, 03:26:17 PM »
i remember seeing some folks use these in the past, but I've no idea who makes them.  They're like a cross between a gig bag and a hard case.

Any ideas?

a store here carries .. similar ones. cool idea, but for local use only i'm afraid as they're more or less all universal shaped, so the guitar will bounce around in there unless you got 50lb of foam in there aswell.

Ah - good point.

Hmm.  Maybe I'll stick with a regular old gig bag then.

Mine is a Tribal Planet (GX30 I think).  Never had a problem with it, I quiet like it, and my Eggle fits prefectly.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

My vote goes to 'TKL' ( Zero gravity series  ) - as my 335 - alike sits in one. Shaped to the guitar and very light,  but with great protection within.  :)

* EDIT*

I forgot to mention, that despite the conventional 'Gig Bag' appearance, the two larger outer surfaces of the case, seem to have a solid ( plywood ? ) insert, that not only help shape the bag to the guitar more precisely, but also provide a good former for the inner cut dense foam ;  thereby making the whole thing very close fitting - and kick / knock proof.

Looking at the current version of my case on Google, I notice that the ( now bigger ) outer cable pocket that they  have since added to the design,  seems to hide the otherwise well defined shape beneath - as I have on an older style one. *
