My Life Is Over...
« on: September 15, 2009, 07:43:30 PM »
Just finished the final series of "The Wire".

Yes, I know I'm behind the times.  But what a cracking televisual experience!

But what's next for Mr and Mrs Bump?  Might we have to hold conversations now?!?!

Things can't be that desperate that you have to talk to the Missus. Can't you perform some slight that makes her not talk to you( works for me with Mrs 38th) whilst you scour the tv listings for something to replace it.

Good thinking, Mr 38th.

I currently have a chest infection, and so the constant coughing is inhibiting conversation somewhat - so all good there then.

However, I can't cough forever.  Gonna have to find me some more TV...

This happened to me when I got to the last episode. There is so much detail in it that I reckon a second viewing of it all in 6 months time would be just as enjoyable. Soo many layers and arcs to the stories that you may have missed little parts here and there (no disrespect of course!).

If you've got the DVDs I recommend watching the extra. I almost never watch the extras but the ones for the wire were the exception. Not bad at all.
I think I hate being indecisive.

No, I know what you mean.  And also the interplay between the series'.

Cracking television, really.  Some of the best in recent years.

Have you done Prison Break yet? If not, I would recommend it.  :D

No, no Prison Break.

In fact, no 24 either.  Or Lost.

I think that I'm a little behind the curve with my popular TV habits.

I want to watch BSG, but I want to watch it all from scratch, the first series, but I can't find it on at the moment.  I would have thought that the BBC would have got hold of it by now...

It really needs to be watched from the pilot onwards, including the mini series and webisodes.

Good lord it was sublime.

Yeah...  I did see the first 2 feature length episodes, and I could see it was gonna be good.

Maybe I need to bite the bullet and shell out for the DVDs...

I waiting for the inevitable complete box set to be released at Christmas time.

I did buy the entire series of the West Wing and the entire series of Black Books for £90 the pair in HMV the other day. Great sale.

The Shield. It's the nasty, dirty crime comic book to The Wire's masterful novel, but it's none the worse for that.

Get the first series of Charlies Angels - the whole lot's only £12 or so apparently... there's hours and hours and hours of it...

I've been given the "opportunity" to watch this recently with my beloved spouse... (we've only got another seven more episodes to watch  :()

I guarantee you'll enjoy it, honest...

Have you see Oz?

Oz and The Wire have an immense number of crossover cast members. Oz actors Lance Reddick, John Doman, J.D. Williams, Seth Gilliam, Wood Harris, Reg E. Agreed, Oz is great.

And Homicide: Life On The Street which was pretty much the blueprint for The Wire and also has the same writer (David Simon) and some of the same cast members.

(Bear in mind that I can't stand most American drama series so.... what I like others may well hate.)
