Daily mail readers at it again
« on: September 16, 2009, 10:32:30 PM »
So, Eddie Izzard completes his 1,100 mile marathon around Britain and this is posted on the article response section on the mail website:

Eddie Izzard is a big supporter of Communist Labour and the Communist European Union - so what if he ran himself into the ground isn't that what Communist Labour and the Communist EU have done to Britain
- Pat Guide, London, 16/9/2009 7:27

It actually reads just like something from the story generator.

Personally I think it's a great, if slight baffling, achievement and he deserves respect for completing it. I couldn't imagine having the drive to do anything like that myself!!
I think I hate being indecisive.

Yeah but he is a cross dressing supporter of communist labour and the communist European union, so it kinda like cancels anything good out of what he did.

+1!

As I'm currently in training for another measly 10k, I think Eddie Izzard's achievement is totally extraordinary (even if he was taking 10 hours for the early marathons, which is a bit hard to fathom).  There's no way I'd ever attempt even one marathon!

Yeah, that's lazy. He was doing the later ones in 5 hours though!

When's your 10k Philly? I need to get back out on the road for some punishment myself - my sister is trying to talk me into doing a 10k in a few weeks time.

I think Pat is looking at it all wrong, the Mail covered this story to praise Communist Labour supporters running themselves into the ground. Its a good thing... honest

I hardly ever manage to drive 10k in one go, couldnt imagine running it, let alone 1100 miles.
Do you think he did the first 1000 miles listening to the proclaimers the whole time

2 weeks and 4 days from today.  Not that I'm counting.

It's the same one I did last year, but training is going a bit better this time even though I did no exercise for about 7 months.... still having trouble with my back and shin splints though.  :(

Shin splints - nasty! Good luck!

I've got 4 weeks to go until mine and need to get about 7lbs off to give my knees a realistic chance of lasting the distance.

I always seem to put weight on when I exercise nowadays!  10 years ago it used to fall off me.

I think the weight may be starting to redistribute itself though - I'm fairly sure my beergut and double chin look marginally less enormous than usual, despite what the scales say....

My problem with weight at the moment is that Jane is buying lots of cakes and chocolate due to being pregnant. I've had a tough few weeks at work and don't have the will power to fight the cake/chocolate double whammy.

I never really had any weight change regardless of what I ate until about 5 years ago. I need to be careful.

Muscles are densier (and therefore heavier) than fat... when you start doing exercises regularly, you can loose fatness but increase weight... totally normal!

For Jonny and anyone else who might be interested, this is the one I'm doing:

http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/10k/choose-your-event/hylands-park/

It's nearly all on grass, which suits me - can't handle hard surfaces!!!

They have them all over the place though:
