C- warpig to coldsweat

Hey Guys,

After a year with my 7 string custom Randy Rhoads, I reallized the C-Warpig is wayyyyyyyyy too bassy/boomy for what I want and I always have to cut the low alot.    on the neck there's a painkiller, it's good but maybe a lil too harsh?    I realized I just use the neck for cleans... If I was to use a neck pickup for soloing it would have to sound like a bridge pickups (80's anyone ?? )

Maybe I would dig a coldsweat calibrated set better?? 
It's a maple neck-thru guitar with mahagony wings, rosewood fretboard and OFR.   It's being played thru a Diezel Herbert and Vader cab (which is bassy as hell also  :? )

Not looking for a specific tone really... but I mostly play heavier metal, 80's and death metal.

but, what amp are using? a ts9 will help cutting the lows and make it tight

Its a decent theory, but I'd be wary of putting a cs in a maple through.

Diezel Herbert...it doe not need any overdrive to tighten it up.   I may just explain it bad.   The notes have a great attack and it sounds percussive and tight, but there's so much bass going on  thats its woomphy and the low end freq stays there.... it,s hard to explain.

before it was worst, i lowered the pickup it got way better.
 

BTW on an elmwood modena m90, I had the bass at 2.5 / 10 and it was OK.

Well, given that the herbert has so much bass, and I find it woofy as well, the cold sweat would be the best to generally lower it and tighten it up. The c-bomb is extremely tight, but its got a lot of bass, too. The CS is similarly tight but its much more low mid punch than low end.

I've got a Coldsweat in a maple through neck with nato wings (similar to mahogany) & I really like the tone I get from it.  I think it should work well for you.
