Anyone watching the snooker tonight? (guitar related content!)
« on: October 11, 2009, 10:39:19 PM »
During the interval before the final session they had a feature on the history of the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow.

It included an interview with (former world lightweight boxing champion) Jim Watt, who was shown playing a bit of country blues on an acoustic guitar, with a Strat on a stand in the background!  I did know that he played, but he's really, really good!  :D

i saw that and was quite stunned!  he was excellent.  i missed the start and assumed he was some musician from the sixties that had played there.  when they said he was a boxer and guitar just seems to be his hobby i was amazed!  really nice acoustic open tuned finger picking.
cry HAVOC!! and let slip the pigs of war!!!

I may be mis-remembering this, but I'm pretty sure I saw a programme about him once (This Is Your Life, probably) and it said he had ambitions of being a jazz guitarist but ended up going into boxing.

I now need to see this! He must have broken his hands a few times when he was boxing - I have done mine (both) a few times and assumed that was a reason for my lack of dexterity! Maybe it's not such a good reason!
