Quote from Tim in latest news:
Quote
We have finally got our coloured celluloid butyrate bobbins finished and these are now available in both standard and wide spaced options. Colours available- red, blue, green, yellow and white along with our regular cream and black. We can also do zebras in any colour combination. Pics to follow soon-they look wicked!

AWESOME!

We want pics!!!

I have visions of a black Les Paul with red Mules in it ...

I wonder if this news has come too late for the chap with a Voodoo Les Paul?

Looking forward to the pics.

Is "celluloid butyrate" a different material from the current bobbins?

i've got coloured swinesheads in my RG, and they look great. I assume the BKPs will look similarly great. They'd only suit certain guitars (in my opinion), but they'd look badass in the ones they do suit.

I'm a fan of pink bobbins too, and after reading the message I had to get out my Desert Yellow RG550 (with a plain old black Miracle Man set, plugged into a DIY valvecaster and then into a VOX Lead AmPlug) and make up some Lynch-esque riffs.

I'm wondering that if Tim can get these bobbins in both standard and wide, can he get the purple ones in wide as well?

IIRC its the 'authentic' material for pickup bobbins.  i.e  its what PAF's had!

i think all BKP's humbucker bobbins are made from it - i dont know if any other coloured bobbins are or if many other pickup makers still use it

Great minds think alike!

I would love purple Holy Divers on my RG570 (Andy Timmons style) but I need F-space wide pickups.  :?

cool, but now it adds more decisions to choosing what pickups you want.
i wonder what colour would look good with a laser blue RG550
maybe red/white zebra in the neck, blue for the single and green/yellow bridge.  8)

I started having exactly the same thoughts as soon as I saw this news, except that I have a laser blue RG670DX which is crying out for BKPs. My current thinking is that all-blue would be boring, so I'm torn between the classy option of black/blue zebra humbuckers with a black single, or the less restrained (bridge to neck) red/yellow, green, blue/purple.

Decisions, decisions... :)

Sweet dude. I remember asking for this about a year ago, and they listened and stocked them up. Thank you BKP!

Are these available for 7 and 8 strings as well?

We will ask our supplier if he can get any different coloured bobbins. In about a month our bobbin tool will be finished, so we can offer different ones then!

As you can see this has been on the cards for quite a while 8)
