things to do in brussels
« on: October 22, 2009, 12:00:43 PM »
eurostar website is rubbish.

anyway.
im going over to belgium to visit a friend, but i have to hang out on my own in brussels for a bit.
whats crackin in that city?
my bands played belgium a lot over the past few years but aways around other town, and never really in town centres apart from Ghent.

Drove through Brussels last year on the way to massmechelen but that was all, (and that was a mistake).

so whats up in that town. anybody know?

i've been a couple of times.  as big cities go, i'd say it's a little less hectic than others i've been to, but i had a good time.  the beer's great!  and there are around 700 to choose from! :)  and there's some great, reasonably priced food too.  i did go on a bus tour that takes you to all the museums and such, but apart from that i just tried as many of the beers as i could manage.  watch out for Elephant beer, blows your head off!!
cry HAVOC!! and let slip the pigs of war!!!

im T-total mate. haha.
but i appreciate knowing that fact about brussels!

I might head over to Aachen in western germany to see people and then head back to Antwerp. In which case i won't be hanging around.

what i need is a forged inter rail ticket, it would be so much cheaper.

I liked wandering around the centre of town with the squares and food establishments. The little statue of the little boy having a wee. There is a great military history museum too. I was there on business but took time out to have a look around as Mrs 38th had managed to tag along too.

I lived there for a few years.   Theres (was) an awesome bar just off the Grand Place called The Coffin (or French version of) and its all in pitch black apart from ultraviolet lights, all the barman are dressed as undertakers and all the tables are glass topped coffins!   It rules!

There used to be a pretty good guitar shop just near the The Bourse.

I havent been there in 12 years though, so Im not much help!

im back!

i did a lot of hanging around in Aachen, Brussels, Gent and Antwerp.

not much music shopping though. but the one store i did go in have some bogner cabs, a matchless head and 2x12, a little soldano 2x12 and a big Bad Cat hot cat 15/30 maybe? and a lil' 15. i didnt get chance to play around with either.

Never seen a bad cat before. it was a HUGE head. would have been good to play that and the matchless. central london never has such things.
