Fender "Telemaster"
« on: November 02, 2009, 01:58:14 PM »
I just came across these whilst thumbing through Vintage Guitar magazine and I think it's kinda awesome.  Apparently they're only being made for Make 'n' Music in the States so they're as rare as hen's teeth (and pricey too).  But I think it's a great idea.

Here's the blurb and the eyeball melting pricetag.

I suspect this guitar might polarise opinion somewhat but I suppose it's just Fender's own take on what Fano are doing.

I think they're awesome!  :D

I was going to make one from Warmoth parts, but they never make hardtail Jazzmaster bodies except by custom order, so it would have been annoyingly expensive.  Still may do it some day.

Yeah, good point, I'd forgotten about USACG!

I have seen the Telemaster bodies on their site and they seem to be a pretty permanent fixture on their "web specials" page now, so maybe they're the place to go.  The bodies do come in pretty heavy unfortunately, around the 5 pound mark.

PhillyQ has mentioned those before.  I think they're fanastic, but how much????!!!!!  :o

I'd also just take an Esquire version, without the hidden pickups...

The Jazzmaster bodies in the Showcase are always routed for a trem, either the standard JM style or a Strat/Floyd type.  And you know me, I'd always rather go Showcase than custom!

Yes, that's why I used "it can be get" instead of "you can get it"

Doesn't seem to be much evidence of "polarized opinion" so far...

So:

Er... not quite my cup of tea

Not my cup of tea either.

Is that confirmed polarisation? I think it could be.
I think I hate being indecisive.

Would you call "I think that it looks awful!" a polarised opinion?
