yeah the price is gonna rocket after all that stuff isn't it? :P  i calculated it all this morning from warmoth prices. Its probably not actually gonna happen, I just enjoy designing my dream guitars, and figuring how much they're gonna cost - and this one seemed like a bloody good deal - a signature guitar of my two favourite guitarists in one! now yu've all gone and reminded me of reality - yu've spoiled my fun! hang your heads in shame! :twisted:

I built my first guitar when I was 16 and although its not fantastic becasue the neck was a bit thick and I have a cheap FR copy but I still play it as my main guitar.

as long as your an OK woodworker and have a router, jigsaw/bandsaw, drill, cabinetscr@per/spokeshave, plane, angle grinder then your fine.

LOL - build my own? nooo way i'm afraid - i wouldn't know scale sizes, where to put the frets, how to put them in, how to carve a neck or how to make a body, how to route anything. to top it all off i have no tools other than saws and screwdrivers, lol. Plus in the end it'd be nowhere near as high quality, it wouldn't have as good hardware, the shape wouldn't be right, it'd feel horrible, and it'd never get used. Warmoth all the way I'm afraid... unless you'd like to teach me how to use the tools to build guitars - i'd LOVE to do that...

Well i started with no knoledge and it turned out ok.  If you build it yourself then the prices I used were for VERY high quality hardware, better than on stock guitars and its alot cheaper, pus who can say they made their own guitar from a plank? 8)

It just needs some willing.

I have only made 2 and already people say I should start up a busyness which i might after I come back from Australia, and Im not THAT talented as a woodworker.  


Anyway just a thought.

Dont forget that there a number of UK makers who can assist with self assembly projects.

We are not so proud that we need to make it all ourselves
On this Forum alone we have myself, Legra guitar and Laz Gagic and a few others as well.

Sometimes a mix of Ebay, luthier and self assembly can work well

That would be way cheap for a piece of American Red Alder.
