Embossed pickup covers.
« on: November 16, 2009, 03:00:58 PM »
I have a 1990 Gibson Les Paul Custom. The pups are Crawlers and sound great. In the 70's Gibson use to emboss the pup covers with the Gibson logo.Dose anyone know where I can buy such covers?Do Bare Knuckles do embossed covers? Heres a pic, just because I like guitar porn.

I would start with Flea-Bay. You can find all kinds of guitar parts there.

i'm sure someone has done replicas of them, possibly even Gibson.  i think they were only used from about 1970-'72, so there weren't a huge number on original guitars.  i have seen them for sale on ebay too, seems to depend which way the wind's blowing whether you get a bargain or not.  although anything gibson or especially fender from the '70s is getting pretty expensive.

nice guitar the way it is, i personally don't like the embossed covers and think they would ruin it! :)

It's a nice guitar and I agree with blue on "leave as it is".  Not counting that I doubt that Tim puts a gibson cover on his pickups...

ah! in that case, yes you can, and if you send the pickups back to him, he'll fit the covers and wax pot them for you.

Oh, now I got it... As blue said: Yes! you can even send the pickups to him and he'll change it, can't remember how much I paid for that, but was cheap

although don't just stick them in the post, make sure you speak to someone at Bareknuckle first so they know they're coming.  i imagine you would have thought of that, but just in case!

and if you get them, make sure you show us ;)

Embossed? Really?

I know you can get engraved BKP covers but I'm not aware of embossed ones. PDT_037
