No Holes Cover Question.
« on: November 22, 2009, 07:49:06 PM »
Hey, I bought some no hole covers a while ago for my ibanez and they sucked so much tone out of the stock pickup. If I were to get a BKP with the no holes cover would it effect the tone a lot?

Stock pickups on an Ibanez are usually the IBZ and so I think they'd been optimized for no covers. And covers without the polepieces revealed generally and a very small amount does affect tone.

It may very well be the same with BKPs and it wouldn't hurt to get some covers with pole pieces but ultimately, I think asking for no hole covers then I think Tim and Co. would calibrate it so it wouldn't matter.

Hope that made sense.

they are calibrated for the smaler magnetic field, due to the polepieces beeing a bit further from the strings, but no.. it does not affect tone. i got a ceramic warpig with a no hole cover and it slays!
